Atlanta Braves VS. Milwaukee Brewers: Live Thread

Live Thread Series Thoughts

The Milwaukee Brewers are in town at Turner Field to take on our beloved, but struggling Atlanta Braves.  The Braves’ struggles are nothing new to fans, as we’ve seen them blow it time after time, particularly with the RISP stat.  Atlanta pitching has hiccuped some as well, but has held pretty steady, and the Braves’ tentative lead in the NL East would certainly be by a larger margin if not for an almost insufferably pathetic offensive.  Sorry, I call em’ like I sees em’!

The Milwaukee Brewers are playing well, sitting comfortably atop the NL Central with a four game lead over their nearest competition, the St. Louis Cardinals, who by the way almost swept the Braves in their last series.  The Atlanta Braves won the opening series of the season against the Brew Crew, taking 2 out of those 3 games back on March 31st and following, but the Brewers are a different, improved, and much more cohesive ball team than they were back in late March/Early April.  The Braves will have to play much better than they have of late to see the same outcome against Milwaukee this go-around.

It’s great to see the Braves back home at Turner Field though, as those road trips always are doubly wearing on a team when they’re not playing well.  My hope is that the return home to familiar confines will put some much needed juice back in their offense.  We shall see.

I won’t bore with you the game details, but will encourage you to check our own Brandon Woodworth’s Series Preview before the game, and then join us for our Live Thread tonight as we discuss the game,  and all things Atlanta Braves!

First Live Thread in a few days! Lucky I’ve had time to watch games at all lately! Nothing will pull me away tonight, not rain, snow, sleet, hail, or multiple FS applications, audits, or other ED phenomenon.

Game time, just seemingly many millions of seconds from now.

Jason Heyward singles on a grounder through the hole between short and 3rd. No outs, bottom 1st.

  • http://www.tomahawktake.com/ Chris Headrick

Nice throw, but a touch late as Heyward swipes 2nd. Still no outs, and Justin is really working the count, resulting in a Peralta walk. 2 on, no outs.

  • http://www.tomahawktake.com/ Chris Headrick

Errant throw by catcher Maldonado leads to Jason crossing the plate. 1-0 Braves, just 1 out.

Peralta issues the 2nd walk of the inning to Evan Gattis. Runners at the corners, with 1 out.

I be here I be :) Bj thinks he should bat higher like 2nd. I think he should bat higher Like section 316 row 16

    • http://www.tomahawktake.com/ Chris Headrick

hehe I think he should bat in Japan maybe. Um, I have a call to make to one of the editors in the locals division in 10 minutes. Half hour call at best, then I shall return. I had forgotten I had that call scheduled when I started the thread. I’ve been so AWOL, I saw a chance to actually enjoy the game and I took it.

      • fireboss

        Okay I’ll be everywhere

  • fireboss

Minor put it on a tee and Kris Davis hit a 400 foot drive.. probably a hole in one certainly a 2 run homer

You left and my router and switch broke. Your fault

      • http://www.tomahawktake.com/ Chris Headrick

It helps if you let it breathe and dust if occasionally ;)

        • fireboss

Mounted on the wall behind the TV and other goodies plenty of circulation. Really odd that I lost both at once

        • http://www.tomahawktake.com/ Chris Headrick

Of course, that’s what my ex said about me private parts ;)

          • fireboss

    • http://www.tomahawktake.com/ Chris Headrick

This was supposed to be a reply to your Julien comment below. I’m old

  • fireboss

Just writing about how BJ refuses to fight off those low and away pitches and of course he does it… once… an accident not a trend I suspect

    • http://www.tomahawktake.com/ Chris Headrick

Yeah he is so one dimensional in his approach at the plate, he looks like an amateur.

      • fireboss

I’ve been putting in flooring and my fingers are all cut up so typing is a challenge now.. as is sleeping in the spare room and small bed. It’s slowing down my posts though

        • http://www.tomahawktake.com/ Chris Headrick

Director’s job slowing down mine. When I get home from work, I have a buttload of apps and emails to sift through, and I’m just OCD enough that I cannot let them be. I jump on them, and of course this eats into my writing time. I have mucho catching up to do.

          • fireboss

That’s what you get for being important :)

          • http://www.tomahawktake.com/ Chris Headrick

I had no idea the job would take as much time as it does, and it probably don’t, but I don’t half-ass anything I do, so I probably send more emails than I need to, etc. Oh well, I sure don’t feel important!

          • fireboss

That’s why you make all those big bucks,,, :D

          • http://www.tomahawktake.com/ Chris Headrick

haha I don’t do it for the $$, don’t need to, and well, I’ll stop right there :0

          • fireboss

            Adopt me

You and my daughter be scuffling too much

  • fireboss

Itake it you saw this fish fanatic video .. Some folks are just too fanatical. he’s the guy naked in 20 degree weather and freezing rain with teh team ,ogo on his belly

    http://oncloudconine.wordpress.com/2014/05/19/diehard-marlins-fan-vows-not-to-shave-until-jose-fernandez-returns/

    • http://www.tomahawktake.com/ Chris Headrick

No, I haven’t had time to see any videos. Taking a look now. I used to belong to the Polar Bear Club when I lived in TN. Each winter, we went on jaunts to swim in the dead of winter. I love it, or well, I used to before my blood got thin.

    • http://www.tomahawktake.com/ Chris Headrick

OH WAIT… yeah I saw that video for sure, cuz it came from Kyle to the google groups. Great video that Aaron is going to feature somewhere. Very funny

      • http://www.tomahawktake.com/ Chris Headrick

Actually, in truth, it was too serious.. Other than the shaving part, it could have been much funnier.

  • http://www.tomahawktake.com/ Chris Headrick

I need to see the Braves go on the road and play with a little more consistency like they are tonight, minus the hiccups early by the BrewCrew

    • fireboss

I want to see them do it against a pitcher who isn’t having a really bad day.

      • http://www.tomahawktake.com/ Chris Headrick

        amen

  • http://www.tomahawktake.com/ Chris Headrick

    Frou Frou

    • fireboss

Seen more of that this year than I’ve ever seen before. These catcher’s trying to slow down the running game by sneaking up instead of throwing better

      • http://www.tomahawktake.com/ Chris Headrick

        He’s definitely no LuCroy

        • fireboss

Every time I hear Maldanado I think of Candy and the flutterball

          • http://www.tomahawktake.com/ Chris Headrick

            I think of Candy Madonado.

          • http://www.tomahawktake.com/ Chris Headrick

          • http://www.tomahawktake.com/ Chris Headrick

  • Jeff Schafer

great win for the Braves tonight…didn’t get to watch most of it but heard the at bats were great – waiting for a good pitch and taking advantage of it
