Tommy La Stella PROMOTED to the ATLANTA BRAVES!

Tommy La Stella

will be in Boston for tonight’s game!

No corresponding move has been announced, but the Braves have promoted Tommy La Stella and he will be in Boston for tonight’s game.  This is great news for the organization as Tommy will provide the contact and the walks that the Braves are missing in the lineup.  Good things do often come from bad situations and this promotion would have not taken place if it weren’t for Andrelton Simmons leaving the game last night.  Excited to see what La Stella can do as the regular 2nd baseman!  Go Braves!

Tommy hit his 1st home run of the year last night, but the rest of his numbers are what we’ve come to expect as he’s hit for average (.293) and is getting on base at a high clip (.384). While his OPS is down from his career norms, the Braves don’t need him to hit the ball out of the park, merely get on base. He can do that…he will do that.

First Update:  Mark Bowman, beat writer for the Braves, noted that Dan Uggla will stay with the club, so no luck there. While a corresponding move has not been made, there are 2 logical moves:

1. Tyler Pastornicky heads back to Gwinnett.

2. Evan Gattis or Andrelton Simmons goes to the DL.

Let’s hope it’s not #2.

Second Update: The corresponding move is Tyler Pastornicky sent back to AAA.  This is good news as it means the move is permanent, pending La Stella’s performance. It also means that the Braves don’t expect Evan Gattis or Andrelton Simmons to go to the DL.
