Atlanta Braves Get Shutout, Swept, Freddie Freeman Struggles and Others Comment
By Jeff Schafer
Game two against the Seattle Mariners didn’t go the way the Atlanta Braves had hoped.
The Braves sent Mike Minor to the mound on Wednesday afternoon to face a team he has never faced in his career. He goes 7 innings strong, striking out 10 batters and allowing one run off five hits. Mike kept the Braves in the game but the offense just didn’t show up for the Braves.
Atlanta’s offense had six hits, including two from Jason Heyward, and scored no runs. This is now a 16 inning streak that the Braves haven’t scored in.
Seattle came into the series with a record of 29-28 but swept the Braves in the two-game series to now be 31-28. The Braves are now 31-27 in 2014.
The Braves leader, Freddie Freeman, had another struggling day at the plate. Freddie went 0-4 with three strikeouts. In his last 10 games, Freeman is batting .216 with 13 strikeouts and only four RBIs. Not the Freddie Freeman we’ve come to know and love.
We know Freddie is too good to stay at this level and will jump out of this slump but critics are always quick to come out.
Remember a couple weeks ago when word came out that Freeman told Chipper Jones “right now, they got nothing to get me out with”?
Well during the game, a fan asked David O’Brien about this and after his response, Chipper responded….
Got to love when Chipper is on the “twitta”! The Braves are off on Thursday and will be back on the field again Friday night against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
