The Carousel Of The Atlanta Braves Bullpen

Over the past two season, the Braves bullpen has been a strength to the club…this season is seems to be a weakness.  With injuries, inconsistances and starters acting as bullpen guys, Atlanta has struggled in the late innings here of late.  Aside from Craig Kimbrel, Fredi can’t have much confidence in the pen right now and that is strange for us to say.

The strange is becoming stranger as Pedro Beato was called up for two days, got 2.1 innings in and how is headed to the disabled list with a sore right elbow.  Beato threw 1.2 innings on Tuesday night allowing only one hit, three walks and two strikeouts.  On Wednesday he threw one inning allowing one hit no walks and one strikeout…neither outing did he give up a run.

So Beato is out and yet another Braves player goes down with an elbow injury.  Hopefully it won’t be as serious as others.

Braves have made the decision to bring up Juan Jaime who is on the 40-man roster.  The 6’2″ 250 pound right handed pitcher has a 2.39 ERA with 40 strikeouts in his last 26 1/3 innings pitched with Gwinnett.  He has also totaled 13 saves in 27 appearances.

Does the name Juan Jaime excite you?  Well probably not but he could be a nice piece to the bullpen if he continues to pitch well.
