Atlanta Braves catcher, Evan Gattis, was placed on the disabled list on June 29th with a bulging thoracic disk in his back.  Prior to the DL, the 27-year-old was hitting .290/.342/.558 with 16 home runs in 2014.  Then, the swing against the Phillies that he thinks caused the issue.

Since than, Gattis received an epidural to his back and extensive rehab to get him back on the field.  Well, the white bear has come out of hibernation!

Gattis started his rehab stint with the Gwinnett Braves on Thursday night going 0-4 in the designated hitter position.  Than on Friday, Evan got the start behind the plate to test the back.  He went five innings with the gear on, going 0-2 at the plate.  On Saturday, Gattis batted 2nd in the lineup, played catcher and went 1-4 (with two strikeouts).

Sunday afternoon, Evan’s fourth rehab game, he looks like he found his swing (at least hopefully).  Acting as the DH, he went 2-6 with two singles, two RBIs and two runs scored.  He did strikeout three times but…

Thanks to the Gwinnett Braves social media page, we were able to see Evan’s hit on Sunday and a few photos.

On July 21st El Oso Blanco is back for the Atlanta Braves!!
