Tomahawk Take Editor Notes: The Atlanta Braves have now won back to back games against the Padres and look to win again on Monday to win the series.  The bats came alive in the 3rd inning when they scored six runs.  The Braves added two more runs in the 7th inning to win 8-3.  Mike Minor struggled early but was able to last 6.2 innings giving up three runs on eight hits and two homers.  The Braves didn’t hit any home runs and actually won the game on small ball and opposite field hitting.

MLB: Atlanta Braves keep pace in National League East

Tomahawk Take Editor Notes: The Braves won, the Nationals lost.  Those are always great words to type!  Almost everyone in the Braves starting eight hitters had at least one hit; the one hitter who didn’t, Freddie Freeman…though he was on base twice with two walks.  Timely hitting helped the Braves in the 3rd inning to put six runs on the board against Padres pitcher Eric Stults.  The Braves bullpen didn’t give up any runs and only two hits in 2.1 innings work.

Chris Johnson and Ryan Doumit each drove in two runs during Atlanta’s six-run third inning and the Braves beat Eric Stults the San Diego Padres 8-3 on Sunday.

The Braves trailed 1-0 before roughing up Stults (3-13).

Back-to-back doubles by Gerald Laird and Andrelton Simmons started the inning. Tommy La Stella hit an RBI single that skipped between Stults’ legs, Johnson had a two-run double before Doumit followed with a two-run single.

Boston Shopping Andrew Miller Braves, Pirates interested

Tomahawk Take Editor Notes:  The Braves are interested in Boston Red Sox pitcher Andrew Miller…there, the cat is out of the bag.  But actually, most knew this and the Braves have had their top scouts watching almost his ever move for a few weeks.  Now, there are reports that other teams are interested in Miller as well.  The Pirates.  This will definitely hurt as we may now have to throw in more to acquire Miller.

The Pirates do have two lefty relievers in Tony Watson and Justin Wilson but could always use more especially as good as Miller. With the Pirates 4.0 games out of first place in the highly contested National League Central the addition of Miller will only help push the Pirates closer to beating the Milwaukee Brewers and St. Louis Cardinals.

In 2014, Miller is 3-5 with a 2.52 ERA and 64 strikeouts in 47 games.
