Tomahawk Take Editor Notes:  The Braves won the series against the San Diego Padres on Monday winning three out of four games.  Atlanta now heads to Los Angeles to take on the Dodgers.  Ervin Santana looks like he’s found his groove again in 2014 picking up his 10th win on Monday going eight innings, giving up five hits, no runs and had 11 strikeouts.  Evan Gattis was the hero for the Braves on Monday at the plate when he hit his 17th homer of the season in the 7th inning.  Gattis also added another RBI in the 8th inning to give the Braves an insurance run.

Cubs did their big deal but could still trade Boni, Wright and Russell

Tomahawk Take Editor Notes:  The Braves seemed very interested a few weeks ago with the Chicago Cubs lefties Wright and Russell.  Those rumors have seemed to die down a little but could still be on the table as we approach the July 31st deadline.  Bonifacio has been another name floating around the rumor mill.  He would fill the leadoff spot nicely but push Tommy La Stella out.

"Now they are left to do some smaller deals, with versatile Emilio Bonifacio now drawing interest. The Cubs have rebuffed inquiries by the Yankees and others for outfielder Justin Ruggiano, and also are expecting to keep the rejuvenated Chris Coghlan, figuring they need outfielders who can hit next year more than a second-tier prospect. After all, this Cubs team has enough first-tier prospects to fill out a lineup card. They might also look to trade outfielder Nate Schierholtz, but with his off year, that can wait until he clears waivers in August."
