Throwback Thursday: John Smoltz in the booth delivers a punctual message to viewers.

John Smoltz had a 21 year career in the MLB, 20 seasons with the Atlanta Braves and his final with the Boston Red Sox and the St. Louis Cardinals.  He collected 213 wins during that span as well as 154 saves, eight All-Star appearances and won the Cy Young award in 1996.

Smoltz is the only pitched in major league history to have both 200 wins and 150 saves.  He’s also the 16th member of the 3,000 strikeout club.

He retired from the game in 2009 and he’s without a doubt a first ballot MLB Hall of Famer.

After getting injured in 2008 as a part of the Braves, Smoltz served as the color analyst alongside Joe Simpson.  In 2010 he rejoined Simpson in the booth to cover the Braves.  Smoltz has been a regular for the MLB Network, TBS, Fox Sports and Fox Sports South.

Smoltz is a great analyst in the booth as he brings real-game situational knowledge to our ears.

During the pre-game show of game 3 of the 2012 AL Championship series, Smoltz was in the booth with Ron Darling and Ernie Johnson Jr when well…you watch and see….
