Atlanta Braves News: The Morning Chop and Box Score 9/21
By Jeff Schafer
Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: You can see if from the box score below, the Braves offense disappears when they have runners on base. The Braves picked up nine hits on Saturday but only got two runners to touch home plate. We saw Evan Gattis for the first time in over a week as he batted in a pitchers spot. Mike Minor left the game after the first inning and the bullpen had to step up. David Hale gave up two runs in three innings. The Braves look to not get swept by the Mets on Sunday.

Mets defeat Braves after Minor leaves with shoulder pain
Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: Atlanta Braves lefty, Mike Minor, pitched just one inning on Saturday afternoon before leaving the game with shoulder pain. After the game he said it was the same pain he felt during Spring Training. After being one of the only bright spots for Atlanta down the stretch, Minor may be shut down by the Braves and miss the rest of the season.
"Minor was slowed by tendinitis in his left shoulder during spring training and made no appearances. He began the season on the disabled list before joining the starting rotation on May 2.Minor allowed five runs in 4 2/ 3 innings in a loss at Texas on Sept. 14. That outing ended a string of six consecutive starts in which he went at least six innings and allowed no more than three runs.Minor got off to a bad start Saturday when he walked lead-off hitter Eric Young Jr and hit Daniel Murphy with a pitch. Lucas Duda drove in Young with a sacrifice fly before Wilmer Flores flied out to right to end the inning."

Reports: Atlanta Braves eyeing pair of veteran execs
Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: The Braves may have big changes right around the corner. Coaches, players, managers, front office…may all be on the hot seat in the winter months. David O’Brien and Bob Nightengale both shared to the world on social media that John Hart‘s name has been thrown around as a possibility to gain more power inside the organization. You have eight more days to enjoy the Atlanta Braves in 2014, so enjoy while we still have baseball.
"Hart has been a senior advisor for the Braves since last November while Schuerholz is the team president and was the general manager from 1990-2007—during which time Atlanta had its remarkable run of 14 consecutive division titles.Prior to that he was the GM of the Kansas City Royals from 1981-90 and was at the helm when Kansas City captured its lone World Series title in 1985."
Braves fan uses popcorn bucket to snag home run ball
Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: When a home run ball is coming your direction, you use any tool you have close to you in that given time. This lucky fan used his popcorn box and made a terrific catch. Thanks to the many cameras at one baseball game these days, we were able to capture this feat.
"This Atlanta Braves fan catches his souvenirs a little differently, though.During Friday night’s game between the Atlanta Braves and New York Mets at Turner Field, Lucas Duda smacked a dinger to right field. As the ball approached the bleachers, the fan raised a full bucket of popcorn, and it plopped into the cylinder."
