The 2014 Atlanta Braves had a numerous amount of memorable moments throughout the six month season…but also many unforgettable moments within the last two months.

Atlanta ended with a 79-83 record, tied for second in the NL East with the New York Mets. They ended the season with their first losing record season since 2008.

Though the Braves missed out on a winning season and making the MLB Playoffs, they still had many moments to look back on.

Everyone has their own memories of the Braves performances in 2014 but here are my five favorites moments of 2014.

May 9, 2014 – Atlanta Braves vs Chicago Cubs

In the bottom of the 10th inning, the Cubs intensionally walk Justin Upton to put runners on first and second and no outs.  Freddie Freeman walks to the plate to face Chicago’s relief pitcher Wesley Wright.  On the first pitch, Freeman lines to ball right up the middle and drives in Jason Heyward from second base.  Braves won on this night 3-2.

To intensionally walk a hitter to get to you just puts that extra confidence and willing to succeed in your mind. Freddie was able to come through in the clutch for the Braves!

After hitting the walk off, Freeman said “It’s a good feeling, I have water in my eyes, dirt in my ears, dirt down my back…it’s an awesome feeling.”
