Projecting What the Atlanta Braves’ Rotation Will Look Like in 2015

Tomahawk Take Editor’s Notes:  The Atlanta Braves have many decisions to make in the next four months prior to the start of the 2015 Spring Training season.  The Braves front office has to figure out the “bad contracts”, bench players and their starting rotation.  The rotation has Alex Wood and Julio Teheran set in stone for 2015.  Than we have Mike Minor who could be a potential trade target but could be there.  Next two spots, they are wide open.

"If I had to guess right now who the five guys to start the 2015 season in the rotation would be, I would say Teheran, Minor, Wood, Santana and Hale. That assumes the Braves bring back Santana, for all the reasons I stated above. That guess would also include Hale as a possible temporary option until either Medlen or Beachy are ready. I believe the Braves will re-sign at least one, if not both, of those pitchers. The Braves should also sign another Harang-like veteran as a just-in-case option."

SCHUERHOLZ NEEDED HART TO FIX THE MESS

Tomahawk Take Editor’s Notes:  John Hart and John Schuerholz seem to be taking us where we want to go with the Atlanta Braves.  They act like they get it.  We need a lineup that can put the ball in play and then use our stars to drive those runners in.  But that’s on an MLB level…Schuerholz is a huge believer of building your MLB team up from the minors and that’s his goal of turning around this organization.

"That “Braves Way” is about the professional and business-like approach the Braves had for all those years during the run of division championships. It’s more than the banners that hang at Turner Field or the suspenders Schuerholz wears around the ballpark. It’s about an environment during Schuerholz’s tenure that created a winning franchise. It wasn’t perfect, but it was a lot better than it was before Schuerholz got to Atlanta. And when he ascended into the president’s chair after the 2007 season, his successor simply did not hold up the standard. Frank Wren’s biggest problem and biggest difference compared to Schuerholz was the way he conducted business."

Major League games face pace-of-play clock

Tomahawk Take Editor’s Notes:  Pace-of-play has been a huge discussion over the years with Major League Baseball.  Whether it be water cooler talk at work, chatting over a beer or during the broadcast – everyone knows this is an issue.  “Baseball is boring” “baseball takes to long” are common phrases we hear all the time.  MLB seems to be taking steps to reduce this and help viewers better understand and appreciate the game.

"And a pitching-change clock. And an inning-break clock. Violations will result in automatic balls and strikes, applying a pace-of-play and penalty structure to a game played at its own pace for more than 150 years. The rule changes, born of the Pace of Game Committee outgoing commissioner Bud Selig created, are intended to address the increasing periods of inactivity that some fear could turn away younger viewers.“In the major leagues is where the problem is,” said Pirates special assistant to player development Frank Kremblas, who is managing in the fall league. “That’s why they’re doing it. We’re the experimental people.”"
