Yasmany Tomas Rumors: Sunday

Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note:  Changes…that is what John Hart and the Atlanta Braves front office are working on doing for the 2015 season.  Not even a month has past since the end of the 2014 season and the Braves look completely different heading into Spring Training…with more moves on the way.  Atlanta is holding out to trade Justin Upton because they know they can receive a great package for him.  Evan Gattis may also be on the move to an AL team but like Upton, they are waiting to see the best deal they can get.

"The Braves‘ pursuit of Tomas is unrelated to the progress of any trades involvingJustin Upton or Evan Gattis, David O’Brien of the Atlanta Journal Constitution tweets. The Braves feel comfortable that they can get good value for Upton or Gattis whether or not they sign Tomas. The Braves, Padres and Giants have extended offers to Tomas, with the Mariners,Phillies and Diamondbacks still lingering as possibilities, Peter Gammons tweets. That all makes sense — a report late last week indicated that the Braves and Padres were the favorites to sign Tomas, and another indicated that the Giants would turn their attention to Tomas if Pablo Sandoval were to leave for another team."

The Seattle Mariners Should Not Trade For Justin Upton

Tomahawk Take Editor’s Notes:  I went digging on Seattle Mariners’ sites to see if anything came up about the possibility of sending Justin Upton to Seattle.  As most of us thought, the Taijuan Walker for Upton deal was put to bed…well folks in Seattle are sitting talking about it.  I’m sure there have been many discussions about possible trades that non of us have even heard about because they are behind closed doors but it’s still interesting to hear the trade rumors.

"Trading to get Upton isn’t as simple as sending Walker to Atlanta. In all likelihood, the M’s would have to send multiple players down there, either from the farm system or from the 40-man roster. The Braves need a lot to contend next year, and I don’t want to see the M’s send away somebody that could end up being crucial to their playoff hopes. Now, if Upton were to solve his strikeout issues, which is possible, having a Silver Slugger bat on our team would be absolutely wonderful. The combo of Upton, Cano and Seager in the 3-4-5 spots in the lineup would be devastating for opposing pitchers."

Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note:  Well the Boston Redsox have been busy over the weekend.  Reports are coming in that they are on the verge of signing two superstars.  Hanley Ramirez and Pablo Sandoval.  Boston’s lineup is going to be stacked now but pitching may get them in trouble.  Also by not adding back Pablo, San Francisco Giants are probably going to be in on the Tomas signing.
