IS SEATTLE THE BEST DESTINATION FOR UPTON?

Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note:  The calm before the storm…that is what’s currently going on in the baseball silly season.  Teams are lining up their best trade offers and then going to pull the trigger in the winter meeting in early December.  The Braves can/will/should get a lot in return for Justin Upton whether it be before the season or at the July trade deadline.  I still think he’ll be traded prior to Spring Training but if John Hart doesn’t like what is offered to him, I can see him holding onto Upton until the right deal comes along.  One name Braves’ fans continue to bring up in a trade with Seattle is third base prospect D.J. Peterson.  Keep your eye on this very talented, power hitting prospect.

"Seattle would have traded Taijuan Walker, Nick Franklin, Charlie Furbush andStephen Pryor to the Diamondbacks for three years of Upton’s services. But since Upton had a limited no-trade clause in his contract, he vetoed the trade. The Mariners are no longer on Upton’s list, however, giving the Braves a chance to deal him to Seattle. The Mariners remain the best trade option for the Braves. They still seek a power hitter, with Upton on a list that includes free agent Nelson Cruz and Dodgers outfielder Matt Kemp."

On anniversary of Braves deal, Cobb County Chair Lee, executives look back

Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note:  Folks, it is happening…the Braves will be leaving Turner Field and will be relocating to SunTrust Park in Cobb County in 2017.  Though Turner Field has many memories this is a good thing for the Braves.  The state of the art facility will not only be a ball park but will be a destination area family can go to.  The Braves and project managers have gone through a lot of challenges and critics already in the building process but hopefully those are behind them.

"Today, on the one-year anniversary of the Cobb Board of Commissioners approving a memorandum of understanding providing the framework of the deal to bring the ballclub north, the $672 million stadium project is moving along at a breakneck pace to be ready for Opening Day 2017.After officially breaking ground in September, the Braves have begun mass grading on the site, as well as work on the site’s infrastructure — including sewer, water and electrical systems — and the stadium’s foundation, according to Mike Plant, executive vice president of business operations for the Braves.Lee said the project is in “excellent shape” thanks to a combination of hard work, diligence and luck."

Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note:  Ken Rosenthal was all over the Yasmani Tomas signings this morning as he now introduces a mystery team to the mix…the Arizona Dbacks.  Tomas has been scouted for months now but the hot stove is turning way up for signing him.  Many of the Braves front office and Fredi Gonzalez took a trip to the Dominican Republic to watch Tomas yesterday.  The Braves are very interested but with more teams entering the mix, the price will continue to rise.  Standby, this is about to get interesting.
