Padres Rumor Round-Up

Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note:  Let the games begin!!  The Major League Baseball Winter Meetings start on Monday with numerous representatives from each team taking part in this gathering.  News will come fast and steadily, so we’ll try to stay on top of things.  Justin Upton is a guy who will most likely be wearing a different uniform come December 12th (after the Winter Meetings).  But if the Braves don’t see a valuable suitor, then they could keep Upton for either closer to Spring Training, at the July trade deadline or keep him for 2015 and get a draft pick when he leaves for free agency.

"The UT’s Dennis Lin in the same article gives us a peek at the team’s Christmas wish list.  They want and impact bat (or two), a first basemen, a third basemen, a shortstop and hell a young controllable offense.  Basically they want a new team and I don’t blame them.  Names he mentioned as potential targets are Justin Upton, Matt Kemp, Yoenis Cespedes, Jay Bruce, Allen Craig, Michael Morse and Brandon Moss.Ken Rosenthal is hearing from an unidentified source that the Padres are discussing a trade of starting pitcher Ian Kennedy for outfielder Yoenis Cespedes, but Boston expects better quality than Kennedy."

Two road projects aim to ease Braves traffic

Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note:  The Atlanta Braves will be moving to their new ball park come 2017 and everyone is beginning to look forward to that date and be prepared.  The SunTrust Park will be a new destination spot for families to come enjoy entertainment, restaurants, shopping and of course the baseball game.  Cobb County is looking into the traffic patterns already to make sure fans can get in and out of this spot easy.

"The Cobb Board of Commissioners are moving forward with two projects in the Cumberland area designed to help ease traffic before the Atlanta Braves move to town. The commissioners voted unanimously to approve a $41,505 contract for engineering and design services related to improvements at the intersection of Cobb and Windy Ridge parkways and a $151,629 contract for engineering services related to improving the eastbound Interstate 285 off-ramp at Cobb Parkway. Both contracts are with the engineering firm URS Corporation, and both studies are being paid from the 2011 SPLOST Transportation Improvements Program, although neither project is specified on the approved project list."

Restaurant Opening – Taco Mac opens near Braves stadium

Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note:  Taco Mac will have 96 beers on draft!  That should be enough said right there.  The restaurant will be opening another location in the Atlanta area just a few blocks from the new SunTrust Park in Cobb.  Taco Mac has award-winning design and will feature an outdoor covered and heated patio.

"Atlanta-based TM Restaurant Group opened a new Taco Mac in Cobb County’s growing Cumberland community Nov. 10. The location in the Parkway Pointe Shopping Center, which is at the northeast corner of Cobb Parkway/Cumberland Boulevard, is just a few blocks away from the site of the new Atlanta Braves stadium. The restaurant will showcase a fresh look, including the use of the its longtime nickname, T.MAC. A sleek bar area features a 58-foot solid wood top crowned with 10 overhead aluminum beer conduits housing 96 beer lines. In front of it, two high-top communal table tops that contain the remnants of beer bottle glass provide even more options for patrons that want a neighborhood bar feel. Sports fans dining at the location won’t miss a play, as 64 large screen HDTVs line the 7,000 square feet interior."
