Braves to make ‘technology’ announcement in the first quarter of 2015

Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note:  Technology geek?  YEP!  Well, if you’re like me, this sounds like some pretty cool news.  The Atlanta Braves will make a “technology” announcement soon about the new stadium according to the Atlanta Business Chronicle.  With many new advances and upgrades to a brand new stadium, we have to remember we are still two years away from entering this facility.  For now, we can enjoy Waffle House at the Ted!

"The Atlanta Braves’ Mike Plant says a ‘technology’ announcement is coming in the first quarter of 2015, but he is not yet providing many details about what is planned.Plant, who is executive vice president of business operations for the Braves, told theMarietta Daily Journal,“We’ve got a good team that have been working on providing innovative, great technology that could be cutting edge for the entire mixed-used development, which will be attractive to the tenants both the retail, residential and office side.”When asked to elaborate, Plant told the MDJ, tenants will want information on a real-time basis and they will want the information to be very secure."

Braves’ rebuild will hinge on success of young pitchers

Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note:  Ken Rosenthal looks at the Atlanta Braves offseason with new President of Baseball Operations, John Hart, at the helm.  Yes, major moves were made this offseason with the trades of Jason Heyward and Justin Upton but the way we can look at it is the Braves have acquired five pitchers 24 and under as well as other prospects who we all hope will prosper in the Braves minor leagues.

"Again, the Braves’ overall strategy made sense — Hart and Co. correctly figured the club, even with Heyward and Upton, might finish fourth in the NL East, behind the Nationals, Marlins and Mets. And while the offense looks rather feeble, even with the additions of contact types like Markakis and Alberto Callaspo, how much worse it can get? The Braves were next-to-last in the majors in runs last season. The real question, as always, is whether the Braves evaluated properly. By ’17, if not before, we’ll have some answers."

"Throughout his career, Mr. Peters surrounded himself with a cadre of baseball experts.“He had a real tree of quality people,” said John Hart, president of baseball operations for the Atlanta Braves. It was Mr. Peters who hired Hart as a minor league manager for the Orioles in 1982, and it was Mr. Hart who succeeded Mr. Peters as Cleveland’s general manager 10 years later.“Hank has been the most influential individual in my professional career,” Mr. Hart said. “I’ve never known a man with more integrity, energy or passion.
