Atlanta Braves Julio Teheran Gets Ready For 2015

Atlanta Braves pitcher, Julio Teheran, had a great 2014 season and made his first All-Star appearance.  In his second full season, he’s becoming a top of the line starter for Atlanta and hopefully will continue developing into one of the best pitchers in the National League and possibly the MLB.

The 23-year-old didn’t contain the best win/loss ratio – going 14-13 – but his ERA, innings pitched and WHIP definitely did.  Teheran had a 2.89 ERA with 221 innings pitched and a 1.081 WHIP.  Now I know many people don’t like to judge pitchers off these numbers anymore but I think we can agree that he did have a good season and pitched playoff worthy…though the offense usually didn’t support his pitching efforts.

Prior to the 2014 season, the Braves locked Teheran up with a huge contract worth 6 years/ $32.4 million with a team option in 2020.  The pitcher from Bolivar, Colombia made his debut on May 7, 2011 but it wasn’t until 2013 when he entered the Braves rotation.

Now that 2015 is right around the corner, Teheran is getting geared up for – hopefully – another great season.  Teheran could turn into a leader of the rotation that included (right now, never know with this offseason) Teheran, Mike Minor, Alex Wood, Shelby Miller and a fifth starter TBD – possibly David Hale.

Offseason workouts are fun to few but the pitcher that is painting in my mind from Teheran’s Instagram is that he enjoys the workouts and is looking forward to making himself better in the upcoming years.
