Mike Minor to start season on DL: Good for  the Braves?

Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: When I first saw this headline from ESPN, I thought it was ridiculous because how could this injury be good for the Braves? But then I actually read an ESPN article and saw they did a little play on words from Atlanta’s President of Baseball Operations John Hart.  Hart said it was good news that there was no structurally damage and Doctor Andrews told them to just rest for two weeks.

"“They say there is nothing wrong structurally,” Minor said. “Hopefully, the stretching and shoulder exercises will knock it out. … There is no tearing or frays. It is just weak, and that is causing it to pinch.”Braves president of baseball operations John Hart called the diagnosis “about as good of news as we could have had.”Atlanta already had an open spot in its rotation behind Julio Teheran, Alex Wood and Shelby Miller. Competing for the openings are Wandy Rodriguez, Eric Stults, Mike Foltynewicz, Manny Banuelos and Cody Martin.“I’m glad we have depth,” Hart said."

MLB hot stove: Yankees, Atlanta Braves talked Jason Heyward trade, reports say

Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: WOW, Do WHAT?!?  This is the first I’m hearing of a possible trade over this offseason that would of sent Jason Heyward and Andrelton Simmons to the Yankees.  From what I’m gathering from the report and this post is that New York probably reached out to the Braves asking about Simmons and Heyward but Braves politely said no.  The Yankees do not have the minor league players or MLB players to enhance the Braves for this trade.

"The Yankees and Braves reportedly discussed more than just the pitching swap they made this offseason. The clubs discussed a deal that would have sent right fielder Jason Heyward and shortstop Andrelton Simmons to the Bronx, according to a report from Andy Martino of the New York Daily News. The report didn’t say how serious the discussions were or what the Yankees might have had to cough up to Atlanta in return. Also, the New York Post’s Joel Sherman said the team inquired about Heyward, but that they weren’t particularly close to acquiring him."
