Atlanta Braves Andrelton Simmons Was Hit In The Elbow Monday, Is It Serious?
By Jeff Schafer
Atlanta Braves shortstop, Andrelton Simmons, was hit in the elbow by a pitch during the Monday afternoon game against the Houston Astros. Simmons left the game going 2-2 with 4 RBIs in the game. He’s batting .481 for the 2015 Spring Training…to lose him right now would be horrible for the Braves.
On the day Braves outfielder Nick Markakis makes his debut, our star shortstop leaves the game. Seems like just our luck for this season.

After getting hit by the pitch, a run scored because the bases were loaded giving him his fourth RBI of the day. Simmons was taken out of the game and went back to the training room for further evaluation.

“It scared me for a little bit, numbed me up,” Simmons said, via 680 The Fan. “But it felt better after a couple minutes.”
GOOD NEWS
The tests must of came back great! Simmons is in the starting lineup for the Braves on Tuesday playing shortstop and batting eighth.
Not even a day off for the 25-year-old. He’s told the media before that he doesn’t like being out of the lineup and sometimes plays through injuries. This though can not be serious as doctors would of held him out of games.
On the first day of 2015 Spring Training, Simmons revealed to Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez that he had an oblique strain. Gonzalez smartly held him out of full practices for about a week. He slowly worked his way back onto the field and has been nothing but brilliant this spring.
The 2013 and 2014 Gold Glove winner and the 2013 NL Platinum Glove winner is looking to have a bounce back year at the plate where he had a slash line of .244/.286/.331 for the 2014 season.
Great to hear this isn’t serious for Simmons…by the way, take a look at this lineup. Other than Alberto Callaspo at third and possibly A.J. Pierzynski, this could be your opening day starting lineup.
