Atlanta Braves Trade Kimbrel: How Does This Impact 2015?

We heard last week the Atlanta was in the hunt for a ‘proven center fielder’ who could serve as a backup for Eric Young.  Little did we know that they would acquire such a player (Cameron Maybin), and that his acquisition would be accompanied by the departure of Melvin Upton… never mind Craig Kimbrel.

But now that the dust is settling – while leaving Braves’ fans more than just a bit unsettled – it is fair to ask how this trade will impact the team in 2015.  Many comments on twitter and elsewhere have referred to this being the “dagger” to the 2015 season… and other reactions went downhill from there.

But is that truly the case?
