New Look Atlanta Braves out to Prove Doubters Wrong
Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: The Atlanta Braves are 2-0, sit in first place in the NL East, have a chance to sweep a team that was projected by the “expects” to be a very good squad in 2015 and are a team that looks very good on the baseball field right now. I continued to express my opinion before the season began, yes we are only two games into 2015, baseball games are won on the field, not on paper.
"General Manager of the Atlanta Braves, John Hart made some very sizable organizational changes over the last few months. Hart took everyone by surprise by trading Jason Heyward to the St. Louis Cardinals for Shelby Miller – a seemingly fair trade that was essentially the first bullet out of the gun. Now, after an off-season of trades, the Braves have begun the season with a totally different lineup than last year. With only three returning players that started for them in the field last year, they’re looking to make this new look work.Julio Teheran was given the nod to start on Opening Day, and he didn’t disappoint. Teheran threw six frames of one-run ball, and struck out four batters. Although, it’s not shocking that Teheran impressed, he was the rock of the rotation last year."
Braves’ Pedro Ciriaco reassigned to Triple-A
Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: What a strange 12 hours for Braves outfielder Pedro Ciriaco. He was called into Fredi Gonzalez‘s office, told he would make the opening day roster unless anything bizarre happens, and then something did happen. The Braves traded away Craig Kimbrel and Melvin Upton Jr.on Sunday night. This caused the Braves to have to make room for newcomer Cameron Maybin. Ciriaco was then told he would be playing in Triple-A Gwinnett.
"Braves infielder Pedro Ciriaco was in line to win the final spot on the major-league bench this season, but after the team acquired Cameron Maybin on Sunday, manager Fredi Gonzalez had to tell Ciriaco that he wouldn’t be on the Opening Day roster, the Atlanta Journal-Consitution reports.“You guys see it at the top level with (Craig) Kimbrel, but you didn’t see it with Ciriaco. That was tough,” Gonzalez said. “Here’s a guy on Saturday, you bring him into the office and he’s scared to death, because he doesn’t know what’s going to happen. And I say, congratulations, you made the team, barring anything crazy. And he starts crying. He had expected to be sent down. I tell him he had a hell of a spring and all the reasons we’re going to go with him, and he starts crying and he goes, ‘It’s the first time I’ve made an Opening Day roster.’ Well, (expletive), 12 hours later he’s not on the Opening Day roster, and you’ve got to have that conversation. I mean, it’s tough sometimes.”"
Rome Braves Partner With Suzuki
Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: The Atlanta Braves Single-A team, the Rome Braves, have announced a partnership with Suzuki Manufacturing. The 2015 season will begin for the Rome Braves on Thursday April 9th. Remember, former Atlanta Braves coach and Hall of Famer Bobby Cox will be throwing out the first pitch. If you’re around the area, make your way to the ball park Thursday night.
"The Rome Braves announce a multi-year partnership with the Suzuki Manufacturing of America Corporation. Beginning this season, fans will have the opportunity to enjoy a new destination point at State Mutual Stadium called the Suzuki Showcase. This major addition in right field gives groups a new experience in hospitality.“Suzuki has been a partner with the Rome Braves since 2003 and we are proud to further enhance the relationship with this wonderful new area at our ballpark,” says Rome Braves General Manager Michael Dunn. “The Suzuki Showcase will give fans a great new option for enjoying a game.”"
