Atlanta Braves News: The Morning Chop and Box Score – 5 Straight Wins!
By Jeff Schafer
Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: The Atlanta Braves won their fifth straight game on Saturday afternoon starting the season 5-0 for the first time since 1994. That year the Braves went 7-0 before losing a game. Atlanta got on the board early with Freddie Freeman‘s home run. Julio Teheran cruised through six innings but in the top of the seventh inning, he tweaked his knee and wasn’t the same after that.

Unbeaten Braves go for sweep of Mets
Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: The undefeated season won’t last, just ask the Kentucky Wildcats, but why shouldn’t Braves fans enjoy the winning while it lasts? Sunday’s match-up with the Mets will be Braves lefty Alex Wood versus Mets Bartolo Colon. Let’s get #6!
"No Braves team started off hotter than the 1982 club, which opened the year 13-0 en route to an NL West title. The next-best Atlanta start came from the 1994 team, which began 7-0 and was in second place when a strike ended the season.Though Colon spent time this weekend encouraging rookie teammate Rafael Montero to throw fewer fastballs, he doesn’t exactly practice what he preaches. Reinventing himself as a control artist late in his career, Colon threw 82.6 percent fastballs last season, the highest rate of any qualified pitcher in baseball. On Opening Day, only nine of his 86 pitches were offspeed."
Couple’s car stolen during Braves home opener
Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: Talk about a horrible transition between the Braves having great success and then to this story, right? Well, I wanted to inform you about the possibilities you take when you’re parking your car around Turner Field. This couple’s car was broken into and stolen while they were attending the opening game at Turner Field. They parked in a lot that they thought was secure, but it turns out it wasn’t. Many other cars from this lot were broken into as well.
"The couple told us that by the time they got to Turner Field, all the Braves parking was full. So they took a chance on what they thought was a private lot. The Roberts paid $20 to park. However, when they got back their truck, a 2008 Ford Sport Trac sunroof, was gone.We found out the guys they paid don’t own the lot and may have stolen their car.“We’re big sports fans, braves fans. We love coming down but that definitely killed the night,” said Russ.Atlanta police say they make sure to have their patrolman near the empty lots around Turner Field to keep people from using it to make money. Officers say whenever they are called to an emergency those scammers set up quickly and use it until they are chased off."
