By Jeff Schafer
Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: The Atlanta Braves are no longer in first place in the NL East…that spot is rightfully held by the New York Mets at 9-3. The Braves are in second place in the East after Saturday’s game with a 7-4 record. The past two games in Canada, the offense has came to play.

Blue Jays top Atlanta Braves with 6-5 win
Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: The Braves had the momentum, lost the momentum, regained it, then lost it on Saturday. What a world-wind of a game for both the Blue Jays and Braves. Josh Donaldson was the hero for the Jays in the bottom of the 10th inning as he blasted a home run off Sugar Ray Marimon. Toronto is now 6-6 for the 2015 season and the Braves fall to 7-4. Atlanta has lost three of their last four games…but let’s that dwell on that.
"Donaldson connected on the second pitch he saw from Braves reliever Sugar Ray Marimon (0-1), driving it into the second deck of the left-field stands for his third home run of the season — and his third hit of the afternoon. The Blue Jays third baseman, who was acquired in an off-season trade that sent Canadian Brett Lawrie to Oakland, moved into the two-spot ahead of Wednesday’s game against Tampa Bay. He has nine hits since.“I don’t think it’s anything in that (two-hole) slot that’s changed anything for him. He’s just a good hitter and he’s swinging the bat well,” Toronto manager John Gibbons said. “One of the big stats is Wins Above Replacement and he’s up there with MVP guys and that says it all right there."
Braves’ Freeman hopes to honor late mom, play for Canada
Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: Atlanta Braves first baseman Freddie Freeman‘s mother passed away when he was 10-years-old from melanoma, but her presence still lives on. Like we talked about when I interviewed Freeman, he wears the long sleeves on game days to pay respect to his mother and now he plans to play for team Canada in International competitions.
"“I know she’s watching every single game up in heaven,” Freeman said. “I have a necklace that unscrews and there’s a piece of her hair inside of it, so she’s always with me everywhere I go.”“I just want to make her proud and continue to honor her,” he said. One way to do that, Freeman says, is to play for Canada at the next World Baseball Classic in 2017.Freeman was born in California and has played for the United States in international competitions. He made sure the players’ union knew about his Canadian roots before the last WBC in 2013."
