Atlanta Braves News: The Morning Chop and Box Score
By Jeff Schafer
Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: Atlanta Braves starting pitcher, Trevor Cahill, breezed through the first four innings of Tuesday nights game. Then the 5th inning came. If Cahill can build off those first few innings and control his sinker ball, we may have something here with the backend of our rotation. But he definitely has to improve or the Braves will consider moving him to a different job. Newly called-up relief pitcher, Ian Thomas, was thrown right back into the mix as he pitched the 5th inning without giving up a hit (one walk though). Fredi changed up the lineup once more for the Braves as he put Nick Markakis in the second spot and Jonny Gomes moved to the third. The second slot hasn’t had the production that everyone has hoped for so putting Markaki’s above .300 batting average there maybe a good idea.

Mets’ Kevin Plawecki impresses in major league debut vs. Atlanta Braves
Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: The Atlanta Braves jumped out to an early start to the 2015 season winning their first six games, but more impressive so far is the New York Mets. On Tuesday night, they became the first NL team to reach 11 wins in 2015 and continued to stay hot at the plate…even without star David Wright and catcher Travis d’Arnaud. d’Arnaud’s replacement for the time-being is Kevin Plawecki. He is known as a great contact hitting catcher. Tuesday he displayed that contact going 2-4 in his major league debut with two runs scored. The Braves look to rebound on Wednesday as Eric Stults takes the mound against Mets’ Dillon Gee at 7:10 PM ET.
"Plawecki did not disappoint in his big league debut, finishing 2-for-4 with two runs to help the Mets win their ninth consecutive game. While he had been dreaming of this moment for his entire life, the 24-year-old rookie catcher said he was still struggling to process the night immediately following the game.“I don’t really know how I anticipated it to be honest,” Plawecki said. “It’s kind of been a really quick past couple of days with being called up, and it still hasn’t really set in to be honest with you. But I’m just happy that today turned out the way it did, and I’m just happy we were able to get a win out of it.”Plawecki handled the team’s pitching staff well in his first big league outing, and he earned praise from Jonathon Niese, who collected his second win of the season after allowing one run and four hits after pitching 6.2 innings against the Braves.“Awesome, it’s like he’s been there a time or two,” Niese joked. “But for his first game, kept his composure, did great at the plate, caught a good game. Him and I were on the same page pretty much the whole night. We had a good game plan going in, and we stuck to it. It turned out good.”"
MLB: Atlanta Braves consider moving to Palm Beach for spring training
Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: Want to vacation to somewhere amazing? Try West Palm Beach. What better way to travel to Florida in the cold months of February and March than to watch Atlanta Braves Spring Training in West Palm Beach? The Braves sent representatives down to West Palm Beach on Tuesday to scout out a new location for their training facility. They are still in the process of looking at different locations so don’t book your trips just yet.
"The Atlanta Braves could be considering a return to West Palm Beach for spring training.Real estate consultants representing the Braves recently met with officials in Palm Beach County, the Palm Beach Post reported. The Braves currently train at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World in Lake Buena Vista. The team previously trained in West Palm Beach from 1962-1998."
