Atlanta Braves Get Lucky, Juan Jaime Clears Waivers and Rejoins Team
By Jeff Schafer
Friday evening, David O’Brien from the Atlanta Journal Constitution tweeted out that Atlanta Braves right handed relief pitcher, Juan Jaime has cleared waivers. OK, maybe the headline is a little jarring – I doubt other Braves fans would use the word “Lucky” when referring to this topic.
On April 13, the Braves designated Jaime for assignment because he was out of minor league options. This came a day after he walked three Mets hitters that resulted in a loss. The Braves bullpen has struggled in 2015 with walks and Jaime was the front runner in the time he spent with the Braves.
In two appearances in 2015, Jaime walked four batters while only getting four outs. A positive out of him? Well, he didn’t give up a hit in either appearance.
The 27-year-old continues to catch the eye of Atlanta’s front office because of his fastball. His four-seemer sits in the upper 90’s and can touch 100mph.

FRIDAY TRANSACTIONS
Friday was a strange day for the Braves as many bullpen moves happened.
-The right-handed relief pitcher who was called up for Jaime, Sugar Ray Marimon, was optioned to Gwinnett. This came after four not so great appearances with the big league squad. The 26-year-old leaves Atlanta with a 6.14 ERA, four walks and five strikeouts in 7.1 innings pitched.
–Brandon Cunniff was also sent back down to Gwinnett after having great success with the Braves. This seems to be a “hey Brandon, take a little vacation. Thank you for your hard work, we’ll give you a call shortly.” Conniff will take a little rest after pitching in 10 of the Braves first 15 games.
-Now pitching for your Atlanta Braves? Michael Kohn and John Cornely. The Braves are hoping that this move will bolster the bullpen in a positive way.
Cornely had a 1.04 ERA, 0.692 WHIP with 12 strikeouts and a walk in 8.1 innings pitched with Triple-A Gwinnett.
Kohn had a 4.32 ERA, 1.080 WHIP with 10 strikeouts and two walks in 8.1 innings pitched with Gwinnett in 2015.
