Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: Alex Wood had another bad start for the Atlanta Braves on Monday as he only lasted 4 1/3 innings while giving up three earned runs on nine hits and walking two hitters.  This was against one of the worst lineups in the MLB.  A bright spot from Monday?  Nick Markakis, Andrelton Simmons, and Jace Peterson all had two hits a piece, raising their batting average.  One other highlight would be the limited amount of strikeouts – yes that could have been because of facing Aaron Harang, but still nice to see those down – the starting lineup had only three strikeouts for the game.

Aaron Harang allows 1 run, Phillies beat Atlanta Braves 5-2

Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: Former players who have worn the Braves uniform have been recently killing us!  Last night it was former outfielder and top prospect Jeff Francoeur and starting pitcher Aaron Harang.  Five days before his 37th birthday, Harang shut down the Braves lineup by allowing only five hits and one run on Monday night.  In his two starts against the Braves this season, that was his only run given up.  To lose games is one thing, but to lose to the Phillies is on a different level.

"Jeff Francoeur had four hits and drove in two runs, Aaron Harang allowed one run over six innings and the PhiladelphiaPhillies beat the Atlanta Braves 5-2 on Monday night.Francoeur had a run-scoring double off Alex Wood (1-2) in Philadelphia’s three-run first inning. Francoeur, who began his career with Atlanta, drove in another run with a triple off Jim Johnson in the ninth. He also had two singles.Carlos Ruiz had two hits, including a two-run single, and Darrin Ruf had three hits. The Phillies set a season high with 14 hits."

Top UGA football signee to work out for the Atlanta Braves

Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: Two-star athletes?  The Atlanta Braves love them.  Could this University of Georgia signee be the next to play both football and baseball?  Only a few have accomplished this feat, but Godwin looks to be a prized talent.  The Braves will bring him in to a workout session to see if he’s worthy of a draft pick and/or get his thoughts on going to college to play football or taking his talents to the MLB.

"One of UGA’s top football signees will be working out for the Atlanta Braves before next month’s baseball draft.Terry Godwin is a 5-star receiver from Callaway High School, and he signed a football scholarship with UGA last February.Godwin is also a standout at third base for Callaway’s baseball team. He impressed a few scouts enough to earn an invitation to a pre-draft camp with other prospects for the Braves at Turner Field on May 28."
