Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: At your first glance at the box score in the pitching department, you’ll see Alex Wood gave up eight hits and three runs.  In fairness to him (and if you didn’t watch the game), these runs all came in the first inning of the game and probably should of had a goose egg in this category.  Cameron Maybin missed played a ball in center field that was ruled a double – Wood had two outs in the inning at the time.  Freddie Freeman continues to swing a hot bat as he totaled two more hits.  In recent years, he’s always preformed well on Mother’s Day.  Also, take a look at Alex Wood’s stats in the Batting column…yes, that is correct.  A 3-3 day at the plate.

Braves bullpen falls short again, Nationals complete sweep

Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: The Braves are now 1-5 against the Washington Nationals in 2015 after being swept this past weekend.  The Nationals are one of the best teams in baseball and look like they are finally catching momentum.  Braves pitched Cody Martin was put in a tough spot on Sunday because of a shaky/limited bullpen.  It’s difficult for Atlanta fans to understand these bullpen issues since we’ve grown accustom to having a solid bullpen.  These issues will haunt us all season long and will probably make us a below 80 win team.

"Wilson Ramos hit a tiebreaking double that capped a two-run rally in the eighth inning and the Washington Nationals completed a three-game sweep by beating the Braves 5-4 Sunday.“You’ve got to get 27 outs and we only got 24 of them,” Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez said. “But we battle. Every single game we battle. And I’m proud of our club for that.”Cody Martin (1-2) lost for the second day in a row. On Saturday, he gave up Bryce Harper’s winning home run in the ninth inning after Atlanta had come back from a five-run deficit to tie it."

Braves break streak, finally use duplicate lineup

More from Tomahawk Take

Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note:  Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez finally posted a lineup that looked familiar.  It took until game 31 for Gonzalez to post the same lineup as the day prior.  If you can’t win on the field, might as well try leading the league in something else.  We know Fredi is just looking for a combination that is successful, but a little consistency in the lineup could get guys going at the plate.  We’ll see what kind of lineup he throws at us today when the Braves take on the Cincinnati Reds.

"After the Braves scored the second-fewest runs in the majors in 2014, then traded away three of their top hitters – Justin Upton, Jason Heyward, Evan Gattis – in the offseason, many expected offense to be another season-long struggle in 2015. Instead it’s pitching that’s been their major weakness through the first one-fifth of the season.Braves pitchers ranked 13th in the National League in ERA (4.44) before Sunday, while the Braves were fifth in runs scored per game. Before Sunday, Atlanta was 4-7 with a 5.83 ERA in its past 11 games beginning with consecutive losses to the Nationals April 28-29 in Atlanta."
