Atlanta Braves News: The Morning Chop and Box Score…Mudcats’ Bus Crashes
By Jeff Schafer
Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: The Atlanta Braves did something not many teams have accomplish this year…scored a run off Aroldis Chapman. Andrelton Simmons blasted – and I mean blasted – a home run off Reds starter Mike Leake to score the Braves first run in the 4th inning. Shelby Miller pitched another fantastic game for the Braves. He only gave up one run in the bottom of the 2nd inning. One other thing to note, the Reds are terrific on the base paths. They’ve now stolen 29 of 31 bags this year. Christian Bethancourt should be behind the plate tonight.

Three Cuts: Gosselin, Braves beat Reds on Chapman’s wild pitch
Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: The Atlanta Braves took the lead for the first time in the game in the 9th inning on Monday night when Phil Gosselin scored on a wild pitch. Gosselin was the star of the night as he scored the eventually winning run for Atlanta. He started things off in the top of the 9th when he singled. He moved to second when Nick Markakis singled. Then in an insane move (if he was thrown out, everyone would be bashing Gosselin today), Gosselin stole third base off of Chapman. Braves won 2-1 by great pitching from Shelby Miller.
"The Braves may lead the majors when it comes to producing with runners in scoring position, but this was all Phil Gosselin — with a little help from Aroldis Chapman. After stealing third base in the top of the ninth, the pinch-hitting utility infielder took advantage of a wild pitch by the Reds closer, delivering the go-ahead run to beat Cincinnati 2-1 Monday.“A guy like that throws a lot of wild pitches when you throw that hard with that good stuff,” Gosselin said. “I figured if I got to third with one out we had a pretty good shot to score.”"
