Atlanta Braves News: The Morning Chop and Box Score
By Jeff Schafer
Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: One of the Atlanta Braves top prospects was on the mound for the Braves on Tuesday night, Mike Foltynewicz. He actually pitched pretty good against the Reds. He gave up six hits, two earned runs and had seven strikeouts. We really need him to be successful this almost everyone but Shelby Miller struggling. Jace Peterson continues to raise his batting average after going 2-3 at the plate. He nows holds a .293 batting average.

Mesoraco’s double in 9th sends Reds over Braves 4-3
Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: What’s the old saying? If you can’t beat this Cincinnati Reds, you’re in for a long season? Is that still true? Well, in any case the Reds defeated the Braves on Tuesday night when Jason Grilli gave up a single and then the game winning double to Devin Mesoraco. This was Grilli’s first appearance in six days for the Braves and is now 0-2 in the 2015 season.
"The catcher with a sore hip doubled home the winning run with one out in the ninth inning on Tuesday night, sending the Cincinnati Reds to a 4-3 victory over the slumping Atlanta Braves. The Reds snapped a three-game losing streak with the first game-ending hit of Mesoraco’s career.”I haven’t done it before,” he said. ”I’ve had situations where I wish I could have done it. I’m just thankful I got a good pitch to hit and put a good swing on it.”"
Atlanta punk rock band borrows Braves graphic look
Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: It will be interesting to see if the Atlanta Braves get upset at all about this band using a logo that’s kind of similar to the Braves logo. What do yal think? Is this all right for these musicians to use this?
"When the Atlanta Braves made history with its worst-to-first story twenty four years ago, one of the disbelieving fans in the old ballpark was a kid named Jared Swilley. He became a lifelong fan of the hometown baseball team.Fast forward two decades, and that affection showed on banner hung on the back of a stage at last weekend’s Shaky Knees festival. Swilley is a founder of an energetic post-punk rock band called the Black Lips. The band’s logo is an undeniable homage to the graphics of the Atlanta Braves– from its colors, to its script to the tomahawk jutting out from the words “Black Lips.”“I’ve just always liked the logo. I think the logo is really cool looking. And we made it for two years ago when we played Music Midtown. That was a big deal for us,” Swilley said on his porch in Cabbagetown Monday."
