Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: The Atlanta Braves were blanketed in game three of the Pittsburgh Pirates series as the Pirates won two out of three games at Turner Field.  Pirates starter Gerrit Cole was fantastic on the mound going seven innings giving up six hits, three walks and zero runs.  He also struck out seven Braves hitters.  The Braves lineup totaled 10 strikeouts in the game as their top five batters had eight of the 10.  Cameron Maybin continues to swing a hot bat as he had three more hits for the Braves.  I picked him up in fantasy, so he’ll probably cool down now.

Alex Wood ejected in Atlanta Braves’ 3-0 loss to Pittsburgh Pirates

Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: Alex Wood pitched five innings on Sunday giving up seven hits, three runs and one walk as he took his third loss of the season.  He’s now 4-3 for the 2015 season with a 3.36 ERA.  After the 5th inning, as he was walking off the field, Wood had a few words for home plate umpire Mark Carlson and was ejected from the game.  “I didn’t think it was appropriate,” Wood said after the game.  “I didn’t try to show him up, didn’t say anything to him during the inning (and) didn’t know I got tossed until I got up into the clubhouse.”

"Alex Wood disappointed Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez — not with his pitches, but his protest.Wood got ejected in the fifth inning and Atlanta lost for the fourth time in five games, 3-0 to the Pittsburgh Pirates on Sunday.“We love Woody to death, but he can’t put himself in position to even come close getting thrown of the game there,” Gonzalez said. “We didn’t do anything offensively after that, but you’d rather have Woody try to give you a couple of more innings and stay in the fight there.”"
