The list of Braves players being ushered to the exit for non-performance reasons is growing:
- Wandy Rodriguez (though this one looks to have been an error)
- Eric Stults
- Trevor Cahill (released yesterday)
- Chien-Ming Wang (released this week)
- Alberto Callaspo
- multiple relief pitchers

The next name coming up on this list could be that of Chris Johnson.
At the time of the trade with Los Angeles, it seemed that the Braves were merely upgrading the position – offensively and defensively – from what Callaspo had been providing.
But since that day, it’s actually been a bit more.
Johnson was reactivated from the disabled list on May 27. In the nearly 4 weeks after that, here’s the playing time breakdown:
- C. Johnson: 14 games, 8 starts (1 as DH), .147 with 2 RBI, 1 BB and a 40% K rate in 35 plate appearances.
- Juan Uribe: 22 games, 18 starts. .328 average with 8 RBI, 7 BB and a 19% K rate in 83 plate appearances.
Chris Johnson has been relegated to a bench role. And he frankly hasn’t been doing that very well either.
