New Photos of the Models and the Construction of the Atlanta Braves SunTrust Park

The SunTrust Park will be the new home of the Atlanta Braves in 2017, located in Cobb County which is about 30 minutes north of Turner Field.  The ballpark will have 41,500 seats with a more emphasis on the fans.  The Braves will give a more intimate feeling while you’re in your seats as the new configuration will maximize the viewpoints and elevations, with a higher percentage of seats closer to the action than any others in the MLB.

As Alan mentioned in his post yesterday, the brand new Braves stadium, the SunTrust Park, is coming along nicely.  Here is the link for the live feed of the construction in Cobb County.

The lease for the current ballpark is set to expire in 2016, so the Braves and management staff decided it was the best option to relocate to a new area.

A message from the Braves about why the decided to move was as simple as this…

"The reason for moving is simple. The current location has certain issues that are insurmountable and will only become more problematic over the years. These fundamental issues involve how you, our fans, access Turner Field. There is a lack of consistent mass transportation, a lack of sufficient parking and a lack of direct access to interstates. Furthermore, the Braves do not have control over the development of our immediate surroundings."

Not only will this be a brand-new ballpark for the Atlanta Braves, this will also be a destination facility for all members of the family.  Restaurants, shopping, bars and of course baseball…sounds like a good time to me.

A local source of mine was able to visit the Braves preview site yesterday and took a few photos for me to use.

First, here are the models of the new entertainment facility
