Atlanta Braves News: Chop, Box Score, Another Trade and Who Threw Out The First Pitch?
By Jeff Schafer
Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: If you missed the Sunday afternoon game, neither the Atlanta Braves nor the Philadelphia Phillies wanted to score any runs…well I’m sure they did, but they weren’t able to score until the 10th inning. Phillies starter, Cole Hamels and Braves starter Shelby Miller both pitched fantastically on Sunday…combined gave up 13 hits and had 14 strikeouts. Braves give up four runs in the 10th to end their winning streak. See Fred’s game recap here. If you want to see something ugly, check out Nick Masset‘s line in the box score below…you can also see how ugly the offense of the Braves was.

Arodys Vizcaino returns from suspension as Atlanta Braves overhaul back end of bullpen
Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: Lots of bullpen moves within the last 24 hours for the Atlanta Braves. Nick Masset and Dana Eveland were both designated for assignment after the Sunday afternoon game. Then the Braves called up Vizcaino and David L. Carpenter. Last Sunday evening, the Braves acquired relief pitcher Mitch Lambson from the Houston Astros. The Braves sent cash considerations to Houston.
Relief pitcher Arodys Vizcaino has beenactivated by the Atlanta Braves, having served his 80-game suspension for performance-enhancing drug use.
Vizcaino, acquired from the Chicago Cubs in an offseason trade, was suspended April 2 for using the synthetic anabolic steroid Stanozolol. The 24-year-old right-hander appeared in six games between Double-A Mississippi and Triple-A Gwinnett, posting a 5.00 ERA with 14 strikeouts in nine innings.
Vizcaino made his MLB debut with the Braves in 2011, posting a 4.67 ERA in 17 games. He suffered a torn elbow ligament the following spring and was later traded to the Cubs, returning the big-league level late in the 2014 season following his recovery from Tommy John surgery.
Desmond Trufant throws out first pitch for Braves (VIDEO)
Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: Atlanta Falcons cornerback Desmond Trufant took to the mound at Turner Field on July 2, 2015 and delivered a strike to Braves pitcher Matt Wisler. Trufant is one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL and continues to get better for the Falcons. He was drafted by the Atlanta Falcons in 2013 in the first round out of Washington.
Desmond Trufant, like the rest of his Atlanta Falcons teammates seems to be enjoying his time off before training camp rolls around. Trufant’s name recently popped up in the news as he was offered the opportunity to throw the first pitch at an Atlanta Braves game.
Check out the video of Trufant’s first pitch below from theAtlanta Falcons YouTube page.
