More from Tomahawk Take

More evidence that the Colorado Rockies have no clue when it comes to the weather:  here’s a stadium full of people with a lightning storm in progress.  Hope nobody ever gets killed as a result of this incompetence.

Stop me if you’ve heard this one before:  Rockies get out to a healthy lead with a bunch of hits, Braves score 3 runs to make it closer, nobody scores in the late innings, Rox win 5-3.  Oh, and Nolan Arenado is getting to be a beast.

Yeah – that’s pretty much what happened on Thursday night, too… except for the rain delays.  This game at least managed to work around the electricity and moved along at a crisp 2 hours and 47 minutes.

Shelby Miller told reporters afterward that he just didn’t have it last night the ‘worst fastball command’ he’s had all year.  Nobel, though his 96 pitches included 60 strikes and just one walk.  But he did yield 11 hits in the process of striking out 7… but all of that over just 5 innings.  He was charged with all 5 runs, raising his ERA to 2.38.

The Braves bullpen performed well:  Manny Banuelos, Arodys Vizcaino, and David Carpenter (Vol. 2) pitched well for 1 inning apiece (1 hit, 2 walks combined) to allow the offense a chance to catch up.  Aside from Kelly Johnson‘s 9th homer, though, that just didn’t happen.  In fact, Rockies starter Gonzalez Germen and a posse of 5 relievers allowed only one hit with runners in scoring position – the Johnson homer.
