If you gave up on the game last night after the third inning, then I’m oh-so-sorry that you did. I can understand, given recent weeks, but this one wasn’t to be missed.

After Freddie Freeman was hurt and removed from the game (more on that later), most teams would have just mailed it in from that point. But that just didn’t happen.

Even after Jace’s 3-run jack, you might have thought “okay, that’s good – saved face vs. Matt Cain… that’s a good night under the circumstances.” But no… they scratched out another run that inning.
Then the seventh inning… one more, courtesy of Chris Johnson.
The Giants grabbing an insurance run in the 9th… normally that’s a dagger. Not last night.
Another “dagger” in the 12th from the visitors? Still wasn’t enough.
Everything worked for the Braves after the fifth inning. It may not do so again for the rest of the season, but this bunch of cobbled-together baseballers showed that they care. And they won.
