Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note:  Shelby Miller is having a fantastic season for the Atlanta Braves, but his 2015 stats will not backup my statements.  The 24-year-old pitched another terrific game on Tuesday against the defending World Series champs, but another win slipped away from him and the Braves.  Atlanta’s bullpen gave up six runs in the final two innings on Tuesday as the Braves lost 8-3.  They held the lead until the top of the 8th.  The bullpen has been pitching a lot better as of late, but you kind of felt this one coming.

Braves lose 8-3

Andrelton Simmons has bone bruise on thumb

Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: Simmons remains day-to-day with a bone bruise on his right thumb.  The 25-year-old exited (August 1st) Saturday’s game against the Phillies after trying to make a diving catch.  Simba didn’t have the best July at the plate as his batting average dipped from .271 at the end of June to .256 at the end of July.  His on-base-percentage also reduced .042 points to .652 at the end of July.  Simmons is still the best defensive shortstop in the game so the Braves can live with these stats from him…though it would be great to get these a little higher.

"The status of shortstop Andrelton Simmons remains up in the air.Simmons sat out his second straight game Monday after injuring his right thumb attempting to make a diving catch on Saturday night. He underwent X-rays Saturday and an MRI Monday, which revealed a bone bruise that will sideline him indefinitely but is not expected to need a DL stint.Rookie Daniel Castro has started at shortstop the last two games for Atlanta. He is 3-for-15 in seven games this season."

Freddie Freeman back on DL with oblique injury

Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: Freddie Freeman was placed on the DL following Monday night’s game in Atlanta with an oblique injury. Oblique muscles are located between your hip and your chest, on the sides of your abdomen.  The oblique is responsible for helping your body twist and bend.  After missing 30 games with a wrist injury, Freeman returned to the Braves on July 25.  He played in just 10 games before heading back to the DL.  The Braves went 13-17 in his absence between mid-June and mid-July.  These injuries usually take around six weeks to heal and must heal fully because the muscles are so heavily used.  We’ll see what they can do without him now.

"Atlanta Braves first baseman Freddie Freeman has again landed on the disabled list, this time with an oblique injury.Freeman was injured fouling off a ball Monday against the Giants and was removed from the game. Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez said the two-time All-Star is on his way to Orlando to rehab the injury and will return as soon as possible. He was placed on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday."
