Atlanta Braves: Braxton Davidson Bomb, High Socks and Coffee Sunday

As we sit here on Sunday August 23, 2015 the Atlanta Braves have a record of 53-70, are out of a potential Wild Card spot, and 13.5 games back from the NL East divisional title.  Since the team isn’t winning, we’ve got to think of other creative things to talk about.

How about three things to share with you…one that was blasted on Saturday night, one comment on social media and the other was the doing of the Braves rookies.

– Braxton Davidson was the 32nd pick of the 2014 MLB draft and the 1st round pick for the Atlanta Braves.  He’s currently working his way up the Braves minor league tree and is now playing for the Rome Braves.

The 19-year-old is batting .242/.385/.354 through 111 games.  He has nine home runs, 39 RBIs and 44 runs scored.

Rome was ahead of Asheville 6-4 on Saturday night when Davidson got a hold of a ball and crushed it over the right/center field fence.

I’m looking forward to watching him in an Atlanta uniform one day!

– Chipper Jones had a great suggestion on Twitter Sunday morning.  He believes the Braves should try something different to get out of their slump.  Why not give this a chance?

Baseball is a very strange game.  A very high percentage of the game is mental.  Pulling up your pants and letting your socks show could change things up for the Braves!

– The Atlanta Braves rookies made a special trip this morning for their veteran teammates.  The rookies walked on the streets of Chicago in full uniform to the local Starbucks to grab coffee.  Yes, the Cardinals did this but it’s still pretty funny especially if you were there and saw the team in full uniform walking down the street.
