Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: The Atlanta Braves suffered their seventh loss in a row on Sunday as they were swept by the Chicago Cubs.  The Braves played decent in this series – well, at least their offense.  The bats put 14 runs on the board in this three game series, but the Cubs had 30.  Nick Swisher’s bat got real hot in Chicago, hopefully he can bring that back to Atlanta.  Braves youngster, Matt Wisler, starter the game on the mound on Sunday but wasn’t able to get out of the 3rd inning.

ATLANTA BRAVES: Braves’ skid reaches 7 games

Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: The away trip was not fun to watch.  On the Braves seven game road trip, they lost every game…three to the Padres and four to the Cubs.  For the 2015 season, the Braves are 21-47 away from their home grass…which is an MLB worst.  Atlanta now heads back to Turner Field to for a nine game home stand.

"The Atlanta Braves are limping home after an 0-7 road trip. This time, home runs hurt them. They allowed 12 in four games against the Chicago Cubs.Kris Bryant homered twice and Kyle Schwarber connected an inning after hitting a hard foul ball that sent a fan to the hospital Sunday as the Cubs beat Atlanta 9-3.“Everything we threw in these four games, it either fell in the basket or went over the fence,” Braves first baseman Freddie Freeman said."

Braves eyeing a Monday return for Andrelton Simmons

Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: The Braves young shortstop, Andrelton Simmons, took the day off on Sunday because of a sore knee.  He injured knee on Saturday on a slide, but stayed in the game.  Then he woke up Sunday morning and the knee was sore.  Fredi Gonzalez decided wisely to keep Simmons out of the game for precautionary measures.  If Simmons isn’t feeling 100% on Monday, I’d say give him another day of rest.

"The Atlanta Braves hope to add Andrelton Simmons to their starting lineup on Monday. Simmons was out of Sunday’s lineup due to a sore knee. (Mark Bowman on Twitter)"

"Simmons has shown he can be a defensive force on shortstop, but has been up and down at the plate this season. Simmons is currently batting .261 with 3HR."

G-Braves sweep Bats, move within 2 1/2 games of first place

Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: Hector Olivera was held out of Sunday’s game at Coolray Field because he had played in three straight games after returning from a hamstring injury.  Just another precautionary move by the Braves…BUT, the more important part of the story is that he was seen getting onto the Gwinnett bus to head to Charlotte.  Meaning he will not be joining the Atlanta Braves yet.

"The Gwinnett Braves head into the final two weeks of the International League season in a pennant race for just the second time in their seven-year history. The G-Braves ended up two games behind Durham in the South Division race during the inaugural year of 2009 and had to settle for a wild-card spot in their only Governors’ Cup Playoffs appearance.Cuban third baseman Hector Olivera was given Sunday off after playing the first three games of the series for Gwinnett and going 3-for-12 with a walk. He was with the team as it left by bus for Charlotte after the game."
