Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: The Atlanta Braves took another loss on the chin against the Colorado Rockies at Turner Field.  Two teams that aren’t having their best seasons squared off, but Colorado came out on top.  Braves starter, Mike Foltynewicz didn’t have a bad game, but he only lasted five innings, giving up five hits and four unearned runs.  All Foltynewicz’s runs came because of errors made by Adonis Garcia in the 1st inning and in the 4th inning.

Four unearned runs cost Atlanta Braves in 5-1 loss to Colorado Rockies

Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: The Braves were beat by the Rockies on Tuesday evening 5-1 to fall to 54-72 in 2015.  August is getting September ready to be a great baseball month for many divisional championships.  It should be a fun time to watch baseball…to bad the Braves aren’t anywhere close.

"Mike Foltynewicz (4-6) went five innings but could not pitch around Garcia’s first two errors, which contributed to two runs in the first and two more in the fourth.“He’s a young pitcher,” Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez said. “He’s not ready to cover up those mistakes.”“It’s just one of those tough nights,” said Gonzalez, whose team lost for the 12th time in the 15 games.  “You’re not a major leaguer until you have one of those nights.”"

5 Braves prospects injured in DR car accident

Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: Another bus accident in the Braves organization??  Wow…though most had minor injuries, Luis Martin Severino Galvan is said to have suffered a broken leg.  Back in May, the Carolina Mudcats (Class A affiliate of the Atlanta Braves) bus wrecked and flipped on their way to a game in Myrtle Beach.  Not much information has been shared about this bus accident since it was in the Dominican Republic, but hopefully everyone is healthy.

"Five Atlanta Braves prospects suffered minor injuries and one broke his leg in a car accident near the club’s baseball academy in San Pedro de Macoris, Dominican Republic, on Saturday.Pedro Agustín Encarnacion, 24, Rubén Dario Pérez, 21, Luis David Perez, 18, Alexander Aquino Mojica, 18, Randy Ventura Rodriguez, 18, and Luis Martín Severino Galvan, 18, were traveling on highway San Pedro-Ramòn Santana after a Dominican Summer League game when Encarnacion, who was driving, lost control of the vehicle in a curve and slid off the road into the thick brush, according to the Dominican Republic website MacorisDelMar.com"

Prospect Profile: Austin Riley

Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: Hector Olivera is getting all the attention for the third base position, but younger prospect Austin Riley is already showing he could be the future of the Atlanta Braves at third.  Riley is currently playing for the Danville Braves and is hitting .289 with 10 homers and 11 doubles.  It will be exciting to watch this 18-year-old grow in the Braves organization.

"When selected 41st overall, many were not sure whether Austin Riley would be taking his talents to the pitching mound or the hot corner. The Braves eyed him for his bat, and right now it appears that they hit on Mr. Riley. Many considered the Braves’ selection of the Mississippi State commit a reach, but in his short time in Rookie ball he has shown that his talent may actually exceed where he was drafted. He’s only offered a small sample size, but Austin Riley has the potential to be the best offensive prospect we have had since Evan Gattis and Freddie Freeman. The Desoto High School product has appeared in 48 contests thus far in 2015, and has impressed. In a farm system lacking power bats, Riley has hit 9 homers to go along with 29 RBI."
