Teams Calling To Trade For Atlanta Braves Third Baseman Adonis Garcia?

The September 1st date is quickly approaching the 2015 MLB season…this date is when MLB teams are allowed to expand their rosters from 25 players to a 40-man roster.  For many teams, this will allow extra legs, bats, and arms for their push to the playoffs, but for the Atlanta Braves this season it means we get to see new faces – prospects for veterans.

For teams vying for a playoff spot, each GM/Front Office is looking to bolster their lineup any way they can.  Usually the September 1st Call-Ups are teams digging through their minor league systems, BUT don’t rule out trades.  As Alan explained to us at the start of August, trading can still happen after the trade deadline on July 31st.  Check out his full explanation here…it’s worth your time to better understand this.

Trades can still happen through waiver claim trades.

For a player to be “Playoff Eligible” for a team, they must be on their roster by September 1st.  So even though waiver claim trades can go through the end of the season, they usually come to an end by the first of September.

As we’ve seen the past months with John Hart, President of Baseball Operations for the Atlanta Braves, anything can happen at any single minute.  That’s why I still think he’s still has one more trick up his sleeve.

Adonis Garcia could be on the move in the next 24-hours.  The 30-year-old has had a solid season for the Braves in the 33 games he’s played in.  He has a slash line of .254/.264/.467 and has played extremely well at third base (except for that one game, but we won’t go back to that).

I say this because of these few bullet points

  • Playoff teams are looking for any help offensively and/or defensively.  Garcia could be a nice fit for the Angels, Astros, Giants, Yankees, Dodgers.
  • The Braves are going to want to get Hector Olivera some MLB at-bats prior to the end of the season.  He’s played in 10 games now, batting .231/.286/.308 for the Gwinnett Braves.
  • John Hart loves to wheel and deal

Jim Powell mentioned on the Braves radio broadcast this afternoon about the possibility of teams calling the Braves about some players…including Garcia.

A starting spot will be tough to find, but it’s possible teams are looking for a player that can spot start or help off the bench and a glove they can count on.
