Atlanta Braves News: Chopping while Sinking, Box Score, Worst Team in MLB
By Jeff Schafer
Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: The Atlanta Braves once again played well enough to win the ball game on Sunday, but came up short. The New York Mets, the best team in the NL East, scored six runs in the final two innings of the game, three in the 9th to tie it and three runs again in the 10th to take the victory. The Braves had a 7-4 lead going into the top of the 9th inning, but weren’t able to be victorious. Just another day in the life of a Braves fan. Everyone except Hector Olivera had at least one hit in the Braves lineup and they totaled 13 hits.

Braves make franchise history with 12th straight home loss
Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: It doesn’t matter if you’re in little league or professional baseball, losing sucks. No one wants to lose and that’s certainly the case with the Braves. They aren’t going out each day saying “Let’s lose this game and stick it to them”…they are all professional baseball players going out each day doing the best they can. The team just isn’t there this year and it’s a shame. We do have a lot to look forward to. 2016 and 2017 for one, the new stadium and entertainment facility, and all the young talented players we have in our minor league system.
"Freddie Freeman sometimes can’t bear to look at the Turner Field scoreboard. With the Braves having lost a franchise-record 12 home games in a row, the Atlanta first baseman prefers to narrow his focus.“We have a home losing streak? I had no idea,” Freeman told The Associated Press. “It’s tough, but hopefully we can come back on Tuesday and break it.”“It doesn’t matter if we’ve lost 12 in a row or won 12 in a row,” Freeman said. “You have to have the same attitude, keep grinding and hopefully the tide turns on Tuesday.”"
Howard goes deep, Phillies beat Cubs 7-4
Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: Probably the biggest shock game on Sunday was the Phillies upsetting the Cubs…especially for me because I picked up Dan Haren in fantasy baseball hoping it would guarantee my team a win, many strikeouts and a good ERA….nope! Ryan Howard decided to come out to the ball park. He hit a sacrifice fly in the 1st inning and then hit a two-run homer to right to give the Phillies a 4-1 lead in the third. The Braves are now tied with the Phillies for the worst record in the MLB.
"Phillies starter Aaron Harang allowed three runs and six hits, striking out five in five innings. He’s winless in eight starts since July 30.“They’re a tough lineup,” Harang said. “Coghlan gave me the most fits.”Cubs starter Dan Haren gave up four runs and seven hits in three innings.Addison Russell hit an RBI single in the fourth and Coghlan connected in the fifth to cut it to 4-3."
