The Atlanta Braves are playing abysmal baseball these days, 27 games behind the New York Mets for the NL East division and 0.5 games from being the MLB’s worst team.  Atlanta has won two games in September (both against the Phillies) and eight games in August for a grand total of 10 games in two months!  The baseball being played on the field isn’t much better than the record shows.

Our Braves are currently sitting at 56-88 for the 2015 season with 18 games remaining.  Yes, they have a very good chance of losing 100 games.  Which has happened only 13 times in 140 seasons…the last time they lost that many was in 1988 when they went 54-106.

Though the Braves are clearly out of any playoff contention, there is still reasons to attend a few of the 12 remaining home games.

1. Hector Olivera is a beast

Olivera has hit .225/.311/.325 with a home run, a double and seven RBI’s in the 12 games he’s appeared in.  The 6’2″ 220 pound third basemen from Cuba looks more like 6’5″ 250 in person.  He’s a very muscular 30-year-old that will help the Braves the rest of this season and in the future.

The Braves traded away a top prospect Jose Peraza, starting pitcher Alex Wood, and pitchers Bronson Arroyo, Luis Avilan and Jim Johnson to acquire Olivera at the trade deadline in July.

This guy can hit a baseball and hit it hard.  These at-bats in 2015 will be very beneficial for his 2016 season.  Once he learns MLB pitching, this guy will be worth the addition in fantasy baseball.
