Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: Don’t look away now, because your Atlanta Braves are one of the hottest teams in baseball!! They’ve won five of their last six games.  Remarkably the Braves just took two out of three games against the first place New York Mets in NEW YORK.  Thanks to the Braves, the NL East divisional race has tightened.  Though the Nationals are still 6.5 games back from the Mets, there is still a chance and the Mets haven’t been playing great as they are 3-6 in the last two weeks.  Braves have an off-day on Thursday and head to Miami to take on the Marlins.

Braves win 6-3

Bartolo Colon flirts with perfect game, but Mets fall to Atlanta Braves, 6-3 | Rapid reaction

Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: Freddie Freeman came up huge on Wednesday night for the Braves as he drove in five runs on two hits without even starting in the game!  Freeman came into the ballgame in the top of the 7th inning to pinch hit for Williams Perez.  Down 2-0, Freeman drove a ball to deep right field to score Cameron Maybin and Andrelton Simmons.  Freeman then blasted a three-run homer in the 9th inning.  Freeman didn’t start the game because of a sore right wrist.

"The Mets wasted an early two-run lead and a brilliant effort by Bartolo Colon on Wednesday night, allowing the sub-.500 Atlanta Braves to rally and emerge with a 6-3 win at Citi Field. With the game tied, 3-3, Freddie Freeman crushed a go-ahead, three-run bomb to left field off Mets closer Jeurys Familia in the top of the ninth, lifting the Braves to victory in the rubber game of the series.Despite not being in Atlanta’s starting lineup, Freeman finished the night with five RBI and also delivered a two-run double in the seventh, which gave the Braves a 3-2 lead at the time."

Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: On the plane ride from New York, Todd Cunningham and Shelby Miller played a little prank on their teammate.  The old college line is “it’s never safe to fall asleep with your shoes on”.  In this case, I guess it’s not safe to fall asleep on the plane after winning your first series in a VERY long time.  Matt Wisler must have been in a deep sleep with a little drool hanging for this popcorn to stick.  As I was always told…”it’s just boys being boys!”
