Atlanta Braves star first baseman, Freddie Freeman continues to be hampered by a right wrist injury.  The nagging injury to his wrist has resulted in disappointments throughout the 2015 season.

The initial injury occurred on a swing late in the June 13th game against the Mets.  Freeman continued to play through the pain until June 17th again the Red Sox.  He was removed from the game versus Boston and sat out until July 25th.

On August 3rd, the injury flared up again.  This time it was the wrist and an oblique strain.  On August 15, Kevin McAlpin of 680 The Fan reported that Freeman said both his wrist and oblique are “100 percent.”  Freeman returned to the lineup on August 19th.

Playing well through the end of August and into September, it looked as though the wrist injury was behind him…until Wednesday September 23rd.

Freeman aggravated his right wrist again and was held out of Wednesday night’s starting lineup.

“He aggravates it maybe once in a while, and it was a little aggravated today,” Fredi Gonzalez said.  “Nothing serious, and he’€™s available to play defense.  We’ll definitely try to not (have him) swing.”

BUT, they let him swing.

Freeman came into the game on Wednesday in the 7th inning while the Braves were down 2-1.  The the bases loaded and one out, Freeman crushed a double off the right field wall to score two runs.  Then in the 9th inning, he blasted a three-run homer to give the Braves the lead 6-3.

The Braves had an off day on Thursday and Freeman was back in the starting lineup Friday against the Marlins.

The Braves took an early 4-0 lead in the top of the 1st inning, but Miami’s offense came ready to swing the bats.  Scoring 11 runs through the 4th inning, the Marlins had a 11-4 lead over the Braves.

“I was almost ready to pull the plug on him (Freeman) and take him out of the game when we were down eight or nine runs,” Gonzalez said.  “But then he came up and hit a big two-run home run to get us back into the game.”

Luckily Gonzalez didn’t make this move (Saturday morning quarterback)…he also had a tough time counting the score…Freeman went 3-4 with a homer, two RBIs, three runs scored and a walk.  Braves lost the game 12-11.

“Obviously it’s still painful, but I try not to think about it,” Freeman told reporters after the Friday game.  “I just have to go out there and play.  If I get out, it’s not the wrist’s fault, it’s my fault.  I’m going out there and giving it my best effort.  I can definitely deal with it so I’ll be out there tomorrow (Saturday).”
