Rookie Right-hander Ryan Weber recovered from a bad outing last time out to impress last night, but nonetheless joined the Shelby Miller club by taking a hard-luck loss last night in the finale of the Braves season series with the Nationals as the home team fell 3-0.

More from Tomahawk Take

Weber gave up just one hit of consequence – a solo homer in the second inning to Clint Robinson – and otherwise actually dominated.  Five total hits over seven innings, ten strikeouts and zero walks while technically out-pitching Washington starter Stephen Strasburg.

Unfortunately for Weber, his run support was lacking.  I know – you’ve heard that before.  Despite 7 hits, a walk and an error, the Braves never got that big hit this time – stranding 8 and going 0-5 with RISP.

The bullpen once again performed admirably for 2 innings.  2 runs were scored on them, but those were both directly attributable to a costly error by Adonis Garcia as he tried to start a double play in the 8th.

Tonight begins the last series of the year as the Braves welcome in the St. Louis Cardinals, who are now in cruise mode.  They finally clinched their division a couple of nights ago in addition to notching their 100th win… so they will be more interested in getting ready for next week and perhaps the Braves can get a couple more W’s before we’re done… particularly when Shelby Miller pitches on Saturday evening.

Here’s your box from last night:
