Atlanta Braves News: The Morning Chop, Rainout with Draft Implications

Rainout has Atlanta Braves, Cardinals playing in doubleheader with draft implications
Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: With all the focus on the future of the Atlanta Braves, these last day of baseball is extremely meaningful for a team that is 30 games under .500 for 2015. What comes with being horrible in sports is having a top next year draft pick. The Braves are guaranteed to have a top 5 draft pick in 2016, but where in the top 5 will be determined with this last day of baseball.
"While these final two games are meaningless for St. Louis, which has already clinched the National League East and a 100-win season, they do carry weight as far as the Braves’ draft pick.Atlanta gets the No. 3 pick with a loss or a victory by the Rockies, who take on the Giants. But if the Rockies lose and the Braves take both games vs. the Cardinals, Atlanta slides to the No. 4 spot. The Braves’ win over the Cardinals in Friday’s series opener eliminated them from getting the No. 1 overall pick."
Stadium for Rays, not Braves, should be the priority
Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: The Braves have been interested in moving and this could be the opportunity they’re looking for. This complex could be built for it to host two major league teams each spring. The Braves are looking to move away from their Disney facility they are currently located at.
"Keeping the Tampa Bay Rays in the region got a little more complicated with news that a proposed sports complex might compete for tourist tax dollars that could go toward a new stadium for the Rays. This is what happens when a government body makes a boneheaded decision that everyone has to live with. The St. Petersburg City Council, in a 4-4 vote last spring, refused to approve a deal that would have allowed the team to look for stadium sites in Pinellas and Hillsborough counties."
Atlanta Braves Fan Catches Home Run Ball, Reacts Like He Just Hit the Lottery
Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: I don’t fault this guy at all…he’s showing great enthusiasm for the Braves and he’s actually one of the few that are still attending these games. Hey, if I caught Daniel Castro’s homer I’d be excited as well.
"Daniel Castro hit a third-inning home run for the Atlanta Braves Friday night worth $1 million.Or at least you’d think it was, based on the reaction of the fan who caught it.The guy picked it up, danced, yelled, ignored high-fives, ran in place—it was human excitement at its purest."
