Braves offseason preview: A few additions could speed up rebuild

Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: The Atlanta Braves had a terrible season in 2015 reminding many of the years of the late 1980’s and early 1990’s.  The Braves do have key components for fans to be excited about in the near future.  Don’t jump off the wagon just yet because your legs will be sore…you’ll be jumping back on shortly.

"The Braves just wrapped up their worst season in 25 years, finishing 23 games back in the NL East with a 67-95 record. But it wasn’t entirely unexpected, as the franchise committed itself to a renovation this year.In the midst of a rebuilding effort focused on jettisoning hefty contracts and stockpiling young talent, the Braves might still be a few years away from being the perennial contender that they were from the early 1990s to mid-2000s.However, history suggests there might be hope for Atlanta in 2016 if the right moves are made, as the last time the Braves lost 95 or more games, they responded the following season in 1991 by making it to the World Series."

Minor on track for spring training, but Braves know health is a risk

Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: If Mike Minor can return to his 2013 form, the Braves could have a key piece back in their starting rotation in 2016.  But that’s it, IF.  Many questions still circle around Minor and the Braves.  It’s great that the doctors finally found something wrong with Minor since he was struggling with pain, but they didn’t know why.

"The Braves used eight starters between the ages of 22 and 24 this past season, which was the most in baseball history. While the return of Mike Minor would give them the most senior member of that staff, there’s no guarantees with the health of the 27-year-old.And therein lies the debate facing Atlanta’s leadership.“Will he stay healthy?” asked general manager John Coppolella.”For $5 million that’s a big question and something we’ve got to talk through and wee what we end up doing.”"
