With your last click you’ve joined me on a short but spirited journey, exploring the different competitions for roster spots during the Atlanta Braves’ 2016 Spring Training campaign.
We’ll focus here on the starting rotation. Look for the second installment on the Bullpen to follow shortly hereafter. Lastly, we’ll prepare for the position player drama on the 25th when those knuckleheads report for camp. I led with the rotation situation because it feels the most pressing and interesting, and I want you to care about this little mini-series. I really do.
Unless you have mind-reading powers, I think we can agree that there is very little locked up on the starting pitching front. Consider that the rotation could be very shifty in the opening two months or so, with Mike Foltynewicz likely starting either on the DL or in Gwinnett, and with a bevy of fairly interchangeable veterans vying for the honor of taking up space until our prospects mature. Not to mention youngsters that are clamoring for a call up. Without further ado, here we go.
