National Snapchat Day:  Who knew there was such a thing?

Apparently, all across social media, more importantly, across official MLB baseball channels, today is National Snapchat Day.

Yeah I know, I am just as surprised as you are. Especially since I am a social media consultant…I must have missed that memo. I literally just found about this “national holiday” approximately 45 minutes ago from fellow TT writer (Lieutenant) Dan Horton.

For those of you that don’t know, or care to know (lol), Snapchat is one of the many person-to-person (P2P) social media outlets that exist for people to have one-on-one conversations with someone else. In this case, the scenario would be for an organization with lots of people (The Braves) to use their social media channel in order for fans to connect more intimately with their players

For you new Snapchat users, once you open the app, find the Snapchap picture (like the ones that are included in this post) and hold the camera over the image once you are in the app. Press the center of the screen. The image will automatically recognize the user. At this point, you will add the user/profile to your friends list. Now you are following them and you are now able to keep up with their activities via Snapchat

A quick browse through the hashtag (that’s this thing ‘#’) on Twitter and I see quite a few MLB and MiLB teams participating. This is a good thing. Any effort to bring the fans closer to the players gets a capital AWESOME written in my book.

So far from the Braves camp, Nick Swisher (@NickSwisher on Twitter) and Tyrell Jenkins aka Brotha Jenkins (@TyrellJenkins14 on Twitter) have chimed in (<–click to play) along with a quick “Hello(<–click to play) from our new centerfielder Ender Inciarte (@Enderdavid18 on Twitter)

Next: They're Coming Back!

We will follow along throughout the day and provide any updates after the game is over today (which should be on Fox Sports South, check your local cable providers).
