How valuable are the Atlanta Braves?

Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: Ever wanted to own a baseball team? Well, start playing the lottery or somehow talk your boss into a raise because it’s expensive.  Forbes has come out with an article (link below) about the value of baseball teams.  The Braves are ranked number 13 on their list.  How about we all chip in and buy a team…who’s game?

"According to a new report from Forbes, the Braves are baseball’s No. 13 most valuable team with a current team value of $1.18 billion and operating income of $28 million.Forbes noted the club’s new $672 stadium in Cobb County will use nearly $372 million of public financing.Atlanta Business Chronicle previously reported the team took in $243 million in revenue in 2015. It had $250 million in revenue in 2014 and $260 million in 2013."

My Palm Beach Post

Palm Beach County commissioners embrace idea of luring Atlanta Braves

Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: Where will the Braves play their Spring Training games moving forward?  That has been the big question for weeks now and Palm Beach County continues to push for it.  If I was deciding, yes please.  Palm Beach is amazing and a great place to vacation so I’d go watch the Braves play there.  A lot still has to happen with this situation, it will be an ongoing decision for a while

"Less than a year after earmarking millions for the Houston Astros and Washington Nationals, a majority of the Palm Beach County Commission wants to consider building another spring training facility, this one for the Atlanta Braves.Still unanswered is the biggest question: How to pay for the facility, which the Braves want to build in John Prince Park just west of Lake Worth. It could cost up to $100 million. But at least four commissioners were enthusiastic about the idea after meeting individually Tuesday and Wednesday in West Palm Beach with Braves President John Schuerholz and Chairman Terry McGuirk. The two team officials also took a driving tour of John Prince Park."

Will Jason Grilli be ready on Opening Day for the Atlanta Braves?

Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: The Braves play the Philadelphia Phillies tonight at 6:05pm ET and Jason Grilli has a good chance at pitching at some point in this game.  He hasn’t been on the mound since Sunday against the Tigers where he threw one inning, allowed one hit and had one strikeout.  The 39-year-old is looking to return to action after tearing his Achilles back in July.  He’s been saying for weeks/months that he plans to make the Opening Day roster so we’ll see.

"Grilli’s biggest obstacle for the moment is his own adrenaline. Anyone who has seen this electric pitcher come out in the ninth knows that he is passionate and energetic about the game. It can sometimes be difficult for a player like him to tone down and throttle back in a time of recovery, but he is managing it well. Grilli said “I’m just excited” and that “I don’t want to do too much, but at the same time, I want to amp things up as best I can in all facets.”Obviously, the veteran wants to be ready for Opening Day, but at the same time he recognizes that he has to control his progression back into things. If he keeps going like this, it is looking like he has a good chance to be ready for early April where he will make a strong bid to return to the full-time closer role for Atlanta."
