Braves acquire Tyler Moore from Nationals in exchange for Nate Freiman

ASSOCIATED PRESS REPORT ON ESPN.COM

WASHINGTON — The Atlanta Braves acquired infielder/outfielder Tyler Moore from the Washington Nationals on Sunday in exchange for minor-league first baseman Nate Freiman.

The Nationals waived Moore and outrighted him off the 40-man roster to Triple-A Syracuse earlier in the week. Moore has played in 277 games for Washington over the past four seasons.

Moore, a 29-year-old outfielder who can also play first base, has hit .228 in his major league career.

Freiman, who’s 6-foot-8, last appeared in the majors in 2014 with the Oakland Athletics. The 29-year-old hit .256 in 301 plate appearances for Oakland.

Ed. Note:  Yes, I admit this looks like a click-bait situation, but I’ve been laughing about this bizarre situation of having a Freeman and Freiman both playing first base on the same club since Nate joined the club, and this is the inevitable conclusion of that saga.  So let’s all have a chuckle about it together.

MEANWHILE, there is this Tyler Moore who’s now been picked up:  He has all the looks of a AAAA player:  excels in AAA, doesn’t quite break through at the major league level.  I do expect that he’ll play outfield for Gwinnett, possibly some first base.

This note, however, is of some significance:

This kinda suggests that Moore could get a chance to make the team(!)… though Mark Bowman probably has the correct answer here:

Yes – wrist paranoia is still in the Orlando air.

Moore’s major league experience consists of half-seasons for the Nationals (his original club; drafted in the 16th round of 2008) in 2012-2015, hitting .228 overall with 24 HR in 277 games/649 AB.  Moore will not be placed on the 40-man roster for Atlanta.  He once had 31 homers at the High-A and AA levels – separately – in 2010-2011.

Moore attended Mississippi State before being drafted, and was born in the state as well.
